About McIntyre Turf & Construction

I’ve spent the last 50 years trying to kill Bermuda grass, now we’re trying to grow it.

Garland McIntyre, Sr., our patriarch, farmed the 1,000 acres at McIntyre Farms from the 1950’s. Crops included tobacco, corn, soybeans, peanuts, and timber. But it didn’t include the unwanted grasses that could hurt crop yields.

That all changed in 1999, when Steve McIntyre, Chris McIntyre, and family partner Burt Bynum suggested we enter the commercial turf market. This was a huge departure from row crop farming – from equipment to farming practices to marketing our products. Significant expenditures were made to change equipment, install pivot irrigation, and purchase over-the-road semi trucks.

Since its formation, McIntyre Turf has provided the highest quality sod to golf courses (including Sea Island courses and Augusta National Golf Club), athletic fields, commercial projects, and thousands of family homes.

Burt handles day-to-day farm operations drawing on over 35 years of experience in the turf business. He also has a Turfgrass Management degree from the University of Georgia.

Our farms are located in the temperate climate of south-central Georgia. We are proud to serve the State of Georgia and north Florida with lush, healthy turf and personal service.

When you call McIntyre Turf, you will deal with one of the owners or office employees that will treat you like family. After all, our family has been a steward of this land for over 50 years. We’re betting our name on your satisfaction.
